For Your Mental

Letter From The Editor: Reflection

It’s March already! WOW. I don’t know about the rest of you, but it seems like the older you get, the faster time flies.

My birthday is the 27th of March. This year my birthday falls on Easter! HELLO to all my fellow Aries out there! lol

I think birthdays are always personal reflection periods. I am approaching 27 years of age, and I am filled with so much peace and joy, it’s almost hard for me to believe. I am happy with myself, and I content with the company I keep. I am proud of the young woman I have become and am STILL becoming. I know I have some personal goals that I have made for myself, and I am really looking forward to sharing all my future projects with you all.

I think I can officially say I am in my late 20’s… and as much as I thought I would cringe at the idea of being 3yrs away from “The Dirty 30” … I am actually at peace lol. Surprisingly.

As I get older I am entering another phase of my life, and I welcome this stage with much enthusiasm and optimism. I know there are some people in this world that were not able to see 27, so I am sincerely blessed.

My wish for all of you, is to take a chance to reflect on how far you have come as a person, and where you were a year ago. Reflection is good, and furthermore it is essential for our growth as individuals. Take inventory on your life and analyze your atmosphere. Are you happy ? What improvements or changes can you make moving forward? Remember… every day is a new opportunity for change and to create something better for your life. May happiness & success find all of you. Hello March !

May mercy, peace, and love be yours in abundance

xoxo.KC

Letter from the Editor: You’re First

” I’ve learned that in order for good things to come your way…

You need to believe you deserve them.”

IMG_2747

Last year around this time, I had written a very open and honest post about how I was spending Valentine’s Day, and what my last few years have taught me about love. It was a very reflective piece for me, and at the time I was going through A LOT.

365 days later… I can honestly say I am in a completely different place. What a difference a year can make. I am no longer in that situation, no longer second guessing everything, and most importantly I’m no longer confused. I have grown so much since then. The joy I have now, and the contentment and gratitude that has filled me, leaves me speechless somedays.

IMG_463960658It really is true though, once you learn to love and respect yourself, your whole life really does get better. I spent years in situations and relationships that were draining and not fulfilling. Once you let go of dead weight, and lose the things that are bringing you down… you make room for things and people that are deserving and worthy of you. Once I started to recognize my own worth, my life did change and become a life that I respectfully enjoy and want. I’m just happier, and it feels so f*ckin good . I am in a good place, and have ultimately become a better version of me.

IMG_4211Loving me & putting myself first, helped me realize that I should NEVER settle. In all areas of my life… I deserve THE BEST. Saying it is one thing, genuinely believing it… is another. I deserve the good things that life has to offer, and I look forward to what else is in store for me. I can say that with a smile, because I sincerely believe it. I believe in energy…the universe… karma.. and the power of removing and replacing the things in your life. The universe has a funny way of working things out, and if you take the time to listen, and see what the Higher Power is trying to teach you, it’s amazing what kind of magic can happen. Bottom line… be good to yourself, and good things will happen to/for you.

May mercy, peace, and love be yours in abundance

“Fill Up On Your Happy”

The other day I finished reading, Be You & Live Civil by Karen Civil. It was a great read. Trust and believe I have a book review coming later for you guys.

Anyways, with the first week of the New Year up, I wanted to share something pretty cool that I read in Civil’s book. In the third chapter…

“Fill Up on Your Happy: Emotional Control and a Positive, Realistic Attitude”

Civil suggests that you create a blessing jar. I’m not sure if many of you know what this is but here is the general idea …

What 2015 taught me …

This year has honestly been one of the best years of my life. Mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually I have conquered a lot this year. I did things I never thought I would do, and I’m honestly damn proud of myself for how far I have come as a person. When I was a little girl I use to have this idea and image of what I wanted to look like, and who I wanted to be. I can finally say now that I like who I am becoming, and when I look in the mirror I smile, because I look exactly how I’ve always wanted to look.

When I talk about looks I’m not talking about physically. I’m talking about my vibe, my actual “look.” I grew up with a mother who always appreciated self-expression and individuality. I had a father who instilled strong work ethic, and to never conform to what others want you to be. I like to think I am becoming the perfect mix of the both of them. (more…)

Letter From The Editor: Get What You Deserve

I had the opportunity to write for one of my favorite blogs MyBlackMatters ,which is such a positive platform for Black Women, and I am honored && over the moon that my post was published on their site. Being that this is one of the posts I am most proud of, I wanted to share it with my readers as well. Hope you enjoy reading it, as much as I enjoyed writing it. xoxo

“ It sounds incredibly platitudinal, but no one will ever be able to love you if you don’t love yourself. What’s beautiful about it is that if you love yourself enough, you don’t need the validation from anyone else.” -Leandra Medine [1]

Making sure you get what you deserve and refusing to settle is critical when it comes to taking charge and maintaining your own happiness. You have to genuinely believe in your worth, in order to ensure that you get what you deserve. Once you get in touch with how valuable you are… its amazing what you won’t put up with. (more…)

Letter From the Editor: Take Inventory on Life

The definition of inventory is :

  • to make an inventory of; enter in an inventory; catalog.
  • to take stock of; evaluate.
  • to inventory one’s life and accomplishments.
  • to summarize.
  • to inventory the progress in chemistry.
  • to keep an available supply of (merchandise); stock.
  • to have value as shown by an inventory:

Have you looked at your life and taken stock?

Letter From The Editor: Passion + Motivation … one in the same

Each week, I hear from people who say things like, “I start with good intentions, but I can’t seem to maintain my consistency for a long period of time.”

Or, they will say, “I struggle with keeping on track. I get started but I can’t seem to follow through and stay focused for very long.”

Sound familiar? Yea, me too. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. (more…)

Letter from the Editor: Feed Your Mental

When was the last time you took a day or weekend to yourself? We all need to take time to reflect, relax, and reinvest in our personal health and well-being, reconnecting with our minds, body, and soul.

I work so much and my mind is constantly on a thousand, at least once a month I try to take some time out for myself. With everything going on, it is imperative that I take some time out for ME. Big or small, I don’t discriminate … any getaway is time to get my mind right. (more…)

Letter From The Editor : Drop The Distractions

It’s May !

Right now, I’m working on a ton of things! I can’t wait to share them all with you. First off, I’m starting my own business and that has been an exhilarating experience in and of itself. I guess you can call it a “ Re-Launch.” I have had my own business for years, but I have been steady trying to get all my ducks in a row. Therefore the last few months, I have been working on getting my official logo, a header, business cards, marketing/advertising, and getting my official website together. I also have a few other things in store such as; an online store, podcast show, YouTube channel, and this show called “The Repost,” that I’m frequently featured in. I’ll keep you updated on all the specific dates, but just expect a lot of greatness coming soon. To say I’m excited would be an understatement. (more…)

Thank God for Puberty

For those of you that aren’t acquainted with me yet, my name is KC. Every once in a while, I like to share a more personal story with everyone. I ran across this picture not too long ago and thought I would harp on this for a minute.

Raise your  hand, if you went through some not so appealing times in life… I’ll raise both hands… growing up I definitely went through some stages of awkwardness. I’m glad I did though because from those times I have generated some key characteristic traits and survival skills. In the beginning it was all good… I was an adorable baby, and toddler. Heck, I was a cute kid, and then came the pre-teern years. Boy those were rough. I had acne, I was super skinny, and my eyebrows were in desperate need of professional help. I have always been pigeon-toed, and bowlegged. I still am. I use to hate it, but now it doesn’t bother me, and the crazy thing is later on in life, it became a feature people were attracted to. Weird right ? lol (more…)
